iBreviary

The Liturgy of the Hours is the official liturgical prayer of the Universal Church and for the Church worldwide. While it is required for all ordained clergy and vowed religious to pray, it is also highly recommended for all the faithful to participate in praying for the Church. It can be helpful to think of an intention or a particular person while praying each time of prayer. There are five main times of prayer (Invitatory/Office of Readings, Morning Prayer, Daytime Prayer, Evening Prayer, Night Prayer) that we can participate in. This is the source of our Monday Evening Prayer during Lent. It is possible to pray abbreviated forms of these prayers in missalette publications like Magnificat, Word Among Us, and others, as well as via online resources for free. One online source is eBreviary which can be accessed at by clicking the iBreviary graphic above, or by going to “ebreviary.com” or by searching the app store on your smartphone.

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,
I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.
