MORE EASTER THANK YOU’S...
It has taken a couple of weeks for things to settle down as we return to a more normal pace of activities. I finally sat down to open the many Easter cards and cherish the Easter gifts you gave me. Thank you! I truly appreciate the time you take to acknowledge and thank God for the many gifts we, as a parish enjoy through ministry and service. Thank you! May God reward, repay and bless you abundantly for your kindness!
COME TO THE FEAST…
at NEXT Sunday’s 11 AM Mass, (April 28) six of our parish children will come up to God’s altar to receive the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ at their First Holy Communion. The first time and the first group I as pastor gave them this precious gift was back in 2014. Ten years later, they are now graduating from high school!
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS UPDATE…
We are focusing on three major areas to improve our physical parish plant. Our brand new church air conditioning unit has arrived, and we have to wait for consistently warmer weather to arrive in order to set the manufacturer’s recommended settings.
We continue to remove overgrown landscaping, this time along the front and side of the parish center. The bushes were so overgrown that they reached the roof of the building, and discolored the brick on two sides of the building, which will be power-washed. They also covered the side exterior entrance to my office and covered the windows in the maintenance garage and the office of the Christian Service Director. We are also cleaning out the flowerbeds around the church and will be putting in new wood chips and landscaping to add to the “curb appeal” of our church. Something inviting to welcome our Sunday worshippers to St. Martin de Porres Church.
The last project for this fiscal year is the repair and the resurfacing of our church parking lot. Of course, all of this is possible only because of your great and generous financial support, and the responsible stewardship of those funds by our Parish Finance Council. Thank you!
